The Loma Prieta Earthquake of 1989

    The Loma  Prieta  earthquake  lasted  10-15  seconds.  It hit the entire San Francisco Bay Area.  The amount of money they spent to fix the entire  bay area was $20,324,000. The power was knocked out and the damage was really bad. Buildings collided on top of each other and the earthquake was measured to be  7.1 magnitude. 18,306 houses were damaged, 963 were destroyed, 2,575 businesses were damaged, and 147 were destroyed. The Cypress Structure was damaged the most and the Bay Bridge was shut down for 1 month.
